Shah Rukh Khan waived Rs 42 lakhs DCP bill for Deool Band 2,’ reveals director Pravin Tarde

Actor and filmmaker Pravin Tarde has shared a heartwarming story about Shah Rukh Khan's kindness, explaining how the Bollywood superstar supported the team of Deool Band 2 when they were facing financial difficulties. This revelation comes as the Marathi film has become a big hit, earning over Rs 80 crore worldwide and becoming the fourth-highest-grossing Marathi film of all time.

Pravin Tarde revealed that Shah Rukh Khan waived a Rs 42 lakh bill for the DCP (Digital Cinema Package) for Deool Band 2.
During a conversation with Abhijat Marathi Filmy, Tarde explained how the production team had approached Shah Rukh Khan's production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, for the DCP, which was needed for showing the film in theaters.

Initially, the team had set aside Rs 12 lakh for the DCP, but the actual cost was much higher.
Tarde said, "We had budgeted around Rs 12 lakh for the DCP, but the cost came to Rs 42 lakh." With limited funds, they couldn't afford to pay the full amount.

The team approached Red Chillies Entertainment and explained their situation, asking for support because of the film's small budget.
The DCP was ready, but the payment was still pending, which stopped the process.

The issue eventually reached Shah Rukh Khan, who wanted to know more about the project.
Tarde said, "He asked his technical team about it.They told him it was a film made by the creators of Mulshi Pattern.Since Mulshi Pattern was later made into Antim by Salman Khan, Shah Rukh was familiar with their work."

Shah Rukh Khan then asked about Deool Band 2 and was told it was an emotional film that the makers couldn't afford to pay for the DCP.
Tarde recalled, "The DCP was ready but hadn't been handed over because the money was still owed."

After understanding the situation, Shah Rukh Khan decided to help by waiving the fee.
Tarde quoted the actor's words: "Waive off their bill. It's a Marathi film.Give them the DCP.We can handle the payments later. If it's a good film, give them the DCP."

Tarde praised Shah Rukh Khan's gesture, saying the superstar showed great respect for regional cinema.
"For him, the film was more important than money," he said.

Reflecting on the film's journey, Tarde added, "I thank everyone for the success of the film.
Today, it's heading towards the Rs 100-crore mark, and people are appreciating it.But what Shah Rukh Khan did when the film had no future, when no one was sure it would work, will always be remembered. He helped us without any guarantee of success.I will always be grateful to him."

Deool Band 2 stars Mohan Joshi and Snehal Tarde in leading roles, with Mangesh Desai, Sanskruti Balgude, Devendra Gaikwad, Savita Malpekar, and Pravin Tarde in supporting roles.
It is a sequel to the 2015 film Deool Band and explores socially relevant topics like farmer suicides, while looking at the complex relationship between faith and atheism.
