Haunted – Echoes Of The Past lands in legal storm ahead of June 12 release; public notice cautions industry against release, streaming and monetisation amid NCLT status quo order

A public notice was issued by CA Bharati Manoj Daga, the Resolution Professional of Hare Krishna Media Tech Pvt. Ltd., in the May 9, 2026 edition of Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema magazine.

This notice serves as a warning to the Indian film industry, advising against the release, distribution, exhibition, streaming, promotion, or any form of commercial exploitation of the upcoming horror film *Haunted – Echoes Of The Past*, scheduled for release on June 12, 2026. The film is directed by Vikram Bhatt and features Mimoh Chakraborty in the lead role.

According to records from Zauba Corp, Vikram Bhatt and his daughter Krishna Bhatt are the directors of Hare Krishna Media Tech Pvt. Ltd., while his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt, is listed as an additional director in the company.

The public notice was issued in connection with proceedings before the Hon’ble National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Mumbai Bench.

The case involves CA Bharati Daga, the Resolution Professional, against Vikram Bhatt and others. The notice mentions that the Resolution Professional has filed an application with the NCLT regarding certain alleged preferential transactions and related reliefs under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

In an order dated April 15, 2026, the NCLT directed all parties, related parties, connected parties, assignors, and assignees to maintain a status quo regarding the subject matter of the proceedings.

This order remains in effect and is binding on all involved parties.

The notice highlights that some individuals or entities have reportedly announced the release of the film on or around June 12, 2026, despite the ongoing status quo order.

In response, the Resolution Professional has urged all distributors, exhibitors, OTT platforms, broadcasters, streaming services, cinema chains, advertisers, licensors, aggregators, and any other party involved in the film to avoid any form of commercial activity related to the movie until further orders from the NCLT.

The notice warns that any act of violation, assistance, engagement, or non-compliance with the order could lead to legal consequences, including potential contempt proceedings.
