Ranveer Singh dethrones Shah Rukh Khan & Ranbir Kapoor as box office king; Jio Studios’ Dhurandhar opens at Rs. 125 crores in India (including previews) on Day 1

Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar's film, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, has begun its journey at the box office with remarkable success in India. Following a record-breaking Rs. 43 crores from paid previews, the action-packed entertainer has exceeded all expectations on its first day. Based on early trends, Dhurandhar 2 is projected to earn between Rs. 80 crore and Rs. 82 crore, leading to a total opening day collection of Rs. 125 crore.

The film is drawing record crowds across all regions, with footfalls at an all-time high despite unconventional show timings.
The makers have opted for round-the-clock screenings, resulting in an unprecedented turnout. This marks the biggest opening day for a Hindi film, surpassing the previous records of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan by a significant margin. Ranbir Kapoor's Animal is not in the running, as Dhurandhar 2 has outperformed it by a 2.5x margin.

Ranveer Singh now holds the record for the highest opening day in Hindi cinema and can be considered the box office king as more records are expected in the coming days.
The film is targeting the biggest opening weekend and the highest lifetime gross in the industry. This achievement is historic as it's the first time an actor will have the top two films of all time under his name within three months.

Even Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan have not achieved such a feat.
It's important to note that the industry typically includes day one figures with paid previews. Even excluding these, the film has earned over Rs. 75 crores, setting another all-time record.
