She said, "I am really upset by the baseless attempt to connect my name with this issue.
My role with the company was only in a non-executive position, with no part in managing the company's finances, decisions, or signing any documents. Like many other public figures, I had endorsed some products for the home shopping channel in a professional way, and the payments I was due for that are still not paid."
Shetty also mentioned that her family had given about 20 crores rupees as a loan to the company, and that amount has not been repaid yet.
She said the allegations against her are legally wrong, especially after a delay of almost nine years. She said it's not fair to place criminal blame on her without proper evidence, and that such accusations are against the law and not right. She added that her name is being unnecessarily included in the case, which is both hurtful and not justified.
She also said these false claims harm a woman's dignity and reputation in the public eye.
She quoted a part from the Bhagavad Gita that says not taking a stand against injustice is like doing wrong, and she confirmed that a petition to stop the case has already been filed in the Bombay High Court.
Shetty expressed confidence in the legal system and said she will take all necessary steps to protect her rights and reputation.
She also asked the media to check the facts and report responsibly about the case.
