From Saiyaara, War 2 to Mrs: Bollywood dominates India’s trending movies of 2025; but none reach the global top 10

Google Trends 2025 shows that the most searched movies in India are mostly Hindi films. Movies like Saiyaara, War 2, Sanam Teri Kasam, Housefull 5, Mrs, and the animated movie Mahavatar Narsimha were the top searches in the country. This shows that Bollywood continues to be a big influence in digital spaces within India. However, even though Hindi films are popular at home, none of them made it to the global Top 10 list of most searched movies for the year.

In India, Hindi movies were the main focus of people's search interest.
Saiyaara was a top romantic musical and one of Mohit Suri's most discussed movies of the year. War 2 stayed popular because of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's performances, and it was one of the most eagerly awaited action films of 2025. Sanam Teri Kasam gained a lot of attention due to the nostalgia from the 2016 movie and the upcoming 2026 sequel.

The comedy movie Housefull 5 kept people talking because of its large cast and the long-running franchise.
Mrs, featuring Sanya Malhotra, created a lot of online discussion because of its deep story and digital release. The animated film Mahavatar Narsimha made a big impact as the biggest Indian animated movie of the year, further boosting the popularity of Hindi movies in search trends.

Even though South Indian movies like Kantara Chapter 1, Coolie, Marco, and Game Changer also appeared in the India region list, Hindi movies were the most searched.
The fact that none of the Indian movies entered the global Top 10 shows that different groups of people have different interests when it comes to what they search for worldwide.

As Indian cinema grows with star-studded blockbusters and popular OTT movies, the 2025 search data shows an important difference: being popular at home doesn’t always mean being popular around the world.
With several major Hindi movies coming up in 2026, the next year will tell if any of them can finally reach the global search charts.
