According to a report from Mid-Day, Sunny Deol will start shooting the last part of Lahore 1947 in Punjab next week.
The film, which is about the emotional experiences of people during India's Partition, will be shot in real places in Punjab. The shoot is planned to start on October 10 and last for 12 days.
The film also includes actors like Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi, but the final filming will mainly focus on Sunny Deol because the other main actors have already finished their parts.
Preity completed her portions in June and shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, calling it "the toughest film" she has ever worked on. She thanked Rajkumar Santoshi, Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, cinematographer Santosh Sivan, and composer A.R. Rahman, and hoped that everyone would enjoy the film as much as they did making it.
The film started shooting in February 2024 with a planned release in 2025.
But the team has now decided to delay the release. A source said that when Aamir, Sunny, and Santoshi discussed the film, they all agreed that it's more important to make a high-quality movie than to rush the release for a quicker launch. The film is now expected to come out in 2026, and post-production work has already begun.
With the last part of filming about to start, Lahore 1947 is making steady progress toward completion and is expected to be a significant addition to Indian cinema's portrayal of stories from the Partition era.
