Gulshan Devaiah on why Afsos 2 never happened: “I don’t think it did well enough for Amazon”; opens up on Anurag Kashyap’s criticism about OTT giants: “In principle, I do agree with him but…”

Gulshan Devaiiah's Hunterrr (2015) was recently released in Kinos. We spoke to source about it and asked him about his quirky and exciting show AFSOS (2020). There's a trend in a few seasons of web series, but AFSO didn't have a season 2. 

When Gulshan Devaiiah was asked, I revealed that when the show was written, I had been signed for three seasons. This is a common rule of thumb that follows many people. I think it was enough for Amazon. What's more, it wasn't an original from Amazon. If so, it could have had season 2. It wasn't as strongly encouraged as Amazon because of its original. Please tell me about that. I did the dahad. They advertise and how! So I don't think it has any promotions that helped me. 

Gulshan continued: Nevertheless, it has its own fan base. That ends on a very interesting point. I don't know if he is Chiranjeevi or not. 

He also added: These are things you have to accept. It is a part of the actor's life and a package. I don't blame Amazon. I'm sure there will be guidelines and budget allocations. You cannot break the protocol. 

A few weeks ago, Anurag Kashyap streaming manager exploded for not giving creative freedom to show creators like in the West. Does Gulshan Devaiiah agree with this idea? 

He explained: I don't want to be the one to complain. At the same time, I always felt I could do better from the start. There are restrictions. India is a different country. It's a very complicated country. It's very diverse. There are things that unite us, and there are things that break us apart. The fact that we are still together is a miracle! Therefore, it is always a challenge for storytellers to say what they can and cannot say. Free speech is never absolutely undoable. There are general terms and conditions. Sometimes you need to fight the river and swim. Sometimes you have to find creative ways to tell your story. 

He explained further. “As a rule, I agree with him, I don't agree with allegations that he is doing it because it's not full. We will only discuss the contract. But we feel we can do that better, especially from a storytelling perspective. There are millions of rooted stories that can be told from India alone.
