By confirming his participation in Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious two-part film adaptation of the Ramayana, Sunny Deol has ended months of rumors. Speaking at Mumbai's SCREEN Live, the Gadar 2 star gave an overview of the eagerly awaited project, characterizing it as a long-term endeavor that will use cutting-edge technology to redefine Indian cinema.

Ramayana is a lengthy project because it aims to emulate the production of the Avatar and Planet of the Apes films. It involves all those technicians. In an indication of the production's epic scope, Sunny Deol stated, "The writer and director are very clear about how it has to be and how the characters should be presented."

Although Sunny did not reveal his role, industry rumors indicate he might play Hanuman.

Sunny Deol's announcement follows Ranbir Kapoor's confirmation at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah that he would play Ram in the film. According to Ranbir, he had finished filming the first installment of the franchise and would shortly start work on the second.

It is divided into two sections. I've completed Part 1's filming and will shortly begin Part 2. I feel so humbled to play Ram just to be a part of that story. For me, it's a dream. It's a movie with everything. It teaches husband-wife and family dynamics, which are central to Indian culture, Ranbir stated.

Put an emphasis on sophisticated visual effects.

Sunny Deol clarified that Tiwari's Ramayana would stand out for its realism and excellent special effects, in light of the criticism Om Raut's Adipurush received for its poor visual effects.

Additionally, you will witness special effects that, rather than giving the impression that they are special effects, will give you the impression that the events taking place have actually occurred.

Sunny went on to say, "To be honest, I'm very sure it's going to be great and I'm sure that everybody will love it," which increased interest in the film's stunning visuals.

An All-Star Cast for the Epic Story

With Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, the two-part series has an impressive cast. Kannada superstar Yash will play Ravan, and Ravi Dubey has confirmed that he will play Lakshman. Producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari, who helmed the project with his hit film Dangal, have expressed their desire to adapt this 5,000-year-old epic for the big screen.

The Ramayana's first part will be released on Diwali in 2026, and the second part will follow in 2027.
