The Myth of Stardom Shattered after Stree 2 success – Viveck Vaswani on why overpriced actors are becoming Bollywood’s BIGGEST Liabilities

Industry veteran Viveck Vaswani offers a blunt analysis of the shifting dynamics of stardom in Bollywood following the phenomenal success of Stree 2. In his most recent piece, Vaswani challenges the industry's outdated notions of star power by stressing that actors are more than just performers; they are also essential assets to the profitability of a film. Vaswani emphasizes the need for a new era in Bollywood where talent is matched by the ability to attract audiences and generate revenue with sharp insights and a call for a return to reason in actor valuation. The seasoned actor and filmmaker provides the following thoughts:

The phenomenal success of Stree 2 has made it abundantly clear to all of us in the business and the industry that there are no longer any holy cows. Liabilities are actors whose prices are incorrect. White elephants are actors who only know how to act but don't know how to sell tickets or help the producer. It is pure poison and a destructive force for actors' agents to demand ridiculous prices for their stars without any logic, figures, research, or data to support that price!

Let the novices and their agents go back in time and learn a little bit about film history! There were pricing rules in the past. when distributors' willingness to pay a price per territory was the basis for star prices. Consequently, Vinod Mehra's film and Dharmendra's film had different prices, but both actors made money from sales. As a result, these became the norm, resulting in stability and prosperity! There are new media that recover more than theatrical revenue, which necessitates new regulations. Sure!! However, rules, not whims, arrogance, or ignorance!!

Regarding myself, I do not instruct actors on how to act or deliver effective performances! I teach them how to give performances that make money, no matter the directors or the material! SRK, ask! And a lot of other people, too, whom I've asked to remain anonymous!

In the meantime, a very clever ploy involves happily placing gross collections instead of nets and muddying the water. The film's astounding success, I suppose, is matched only by the clever schemes. Excellent job there! We always knew it was a swamp, even though we had no idea we were in a lily pond!

There is a new academic year every Friday. Only fools don't keep up with their education!

Every screen is a piece of history, every film is a textbook, and every cinema is a college. Do you want to be a star?
