Bombay Talkies Earns 1.5 crore on its Opening Day

Bombay Talkies on its opening day was only a bare minimum of 1.5 crores approximately. Bombay Talkies has four different short films directed by four contemporary Bollywood directors Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee. The special movie marks the celebration of 100 years of Indian cinema.

Bombay Talkies has a unique title track, titled Apna Bombay talkies, which has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant. From the Khans – Aamir, Shah Rukh and Saif Ali – to leading ladies like Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan and Rani Mukerji, as many as 20 screen stars have united for this song.

Others who feature in the song are Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.

Bombay Talkies was released on May 3 along with Shootout At Wadala. The movie opened to an average response with merely 25% to 30% occupancy at the domestic box office. The movie did a good business mostly in the multiplexes while Shootout At Wadala vastly occupied the single screens.

The film did well in Delhi, Gurgaon and Bangalore but its collection remained below average in other centres. On Saturday and Sunday,
