Tere Ishk Mein Box Office: Takes a fantastic start, opens as expected

It was said in this column that Tere Ishk Mein would open in the range of Rs. 12-14 crores, and there was a small chance it could reach even Rs. 15 crores if the advance bookings were better than expected. By the time Thursday evening ended, the early booking numbers showed that Rs. 13-14 crores were easily achievable, and anything could happen later in the day.

The movie did better than expected, with the day ending at Rs. 15.06 crores.

This is a strong start for the film starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. First, it's a love story, which can be tricky to attract audiences on the first day. Second, it's not like Saiyaara, which targets college students and brings in crowds from the first show. Instead, this is a mature love story aimed at adult audiences, with a darker theme, making it more of a niche film.

Still, this film directed by Aanand Rai has opened like a well-budgeted, star-driven movie and has had one of the best starts of the year, especially when compared to many other highly anticipated films.

A weekend total of Rs. 50 crores is expected, but the final numbers could be higher. A good jump is expected today, and numbers may go up again tomorrow. The real test will be whether it reaches Rs. 55-57 crores over the weekend. If that happens, then the first week could reach around Rs. 100 crores.
